BUILT ON SMOKE. ROOTED IN LOUISIANA.
At Big Mike’s BBQ Smokehouse, BBQ is about more than what comes out of the smoker. It’s about good food, good people, and creating a place where everyone can come together.
Our story began in Houma in 2008, when Mike Lewis opened Big Mike’s as a small 12-seat café with a simple philosophy: fresh is best. From the beginning, that meant taking the time to smoke our meats low and slow, preparing our sides from scratch, and serving food we’re proud to put on the table.
FROM 12 SEATS TO A LOUISIANA BBQ FAVORITE
Big Mike’s has grown a lot since those early days, but getting here wasn’t always easy. The restaurant weathered Hurricane Gustav and, in 2009, an electrical fire forced us out of our original location. For a time, we kept serving the Houma community from a local gas station while working toward our next chapter.
In 2011, Big Mike’s opened its Barrow Street location, giving us more room to do what we love: serve BBQ and bring people together. In 2017, we expanded to Thibodaux and welcomed another Louisiana community into the Big Mike’s family.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but even prouder that the things that mattered when we had just 12 seats still matter today.
